“Farewell Kiss” 12 x 16 oil on canvas
Each year, we pause on Memorial Day to honor and remember all the men and women who gave their lives in sacrifice for their country.
This scene from Seattle in 1917 shows an all to common event in times of war; that of a soldier saying goodbye to a loved one as he departs. A moment full of emotions - love, fear, hope, pride - coursing through two people who do not know the next time they will see one another.
Over the decades, centuries, many have left those they love to serve our country. Many have returned back home. Sadly, many have not.
For all of those who did not return, we honor them. We are saddened and grateful for their sacrifice.

There is so much that makes up ‘an artist.” Every part of their life experiences, their training, their gifts and talents, and so much more. Some artists are blessed to "emerge" when they are young, allowing them the luxury of decades of development and sharing of their gifts. Others are, sadly, constrained from life pressures and responsibilities, and never find the opportunity to develop and share. Then there are artists who, at a later stage of life, take the opportunity and the risks to launch their artistic gifts and see where they may go. I am such an artist. My fervor for art and the creative process started when I was a child...
